Esther Miro
Artist & Surface Designer

I am always keen on a project and commission pieces are welcome. Getting an artwork commissioned gives you the opportunity to be part of the artistic process with me. If you have a favorite landscape or floral scene or just have a particular wall that just needs “Something!!”. I love working with my collectors in creating the perfect piece tailored entirely to your unique vision and space, size, and colour palette.

Esther Miro – Artist & Surface Designer

Kia ora! I’m Esther, a multidisciplinary artist based in beautiful Whāingaroa, where I live with my husband and two young sons.

My artistic journey began with a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Ilam School of Fine Arts, University of Canterbury, before I transitioned to a Bachelor of Textile Design (First Class Honours) at Massey University, Wellington. I later completed a Diploma in Secondary Teaching, specializing in Visual Arts and Textiles.

For over 12 years, I’ve balanced creativity, commerce, and education. My professional experience spans costume, film, fashion, and textiles as a business owner, freelance designer, and contractor. Additionally, I’ve taught Visual Arts and Textile Design in secondary schools, fostering creativity in young minds.

At the heart of my practice is my passion for color. As a colorist, I use hues to communicate emotion and meaning through still life, abstract landscapes, or mixed-media explorations. My process incorporates painting, printmaking, and textiles, all nurtured within my home studio.
