Esther Miro
Artist & Surface Designer
I am always keen on a project and commission pieces are welcome. Getting an artwork commissioned gives you the opportunity to be part of the artistic process with me. If you have a favorite landscape or floral scene or just have a particular wall that just needs “Something!!”. I love working with my collectors in creating the perfect piece tailored entirely to your unique vision and space, size, and colour palette.
Hello, I’m Esther a creative who lives in the small seaside town of Raglan, Whāingaro with my husband, 4-year-old son, and baby.
I started a Bachelor of Visual Arts through the Ilam School of Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury before transferring to a Bachelor of Textile Design (first class honors) at Massey University, Wellington. Later, I completed a Bachelor's Diploma in Secondary Teaching for Art and Textiles.
I have always Juggled the harmony between the creative, commercial, and educational worlds. Working within the costume, film, fashion, and textiles industry as a business owner, freelance designer, and contractor for over 12 years. Later teaching Art and Textile Design in secondary schools. I always nurture my creative practice within my home studio through painting, printmaking, and textiles.
I currently use acrylics and mixed media to paint floral scenes, still-life arrangements, and loose abstract landscapes.
I find the whole process of completing a painting very meditative, experimenting with colour, and texture, and slowly layering brushstrokes until I think a piece is done. I frequently drawback on my design skills by stitching together photos, sketches, and memories to design an arrangement.
Follow me on Instagram to see a little more of my process. You can also email me at any time via esthermiroart@gmail.com with any queries or questions you may have.
I love getting to know the people that connect with my art and I very much appreciate the support from you all. Thank you so much for being here!
